All of the targeted analyses offered by CHEAR involve biomonitoring—that is, measurement of the body burden of various substances or their metabolites. The following sections highlight the types of targeted analyses that CHEAR can provide. These sections are illustrative; they are not intended to provide a comprehensive picture of CHEAR’s analytical capabilities. Many of the exposures of interest to CHEAR investigators are the same as those included in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and described in the National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals. CHEAR has the capability to measure most of the same analytes that are measured for NHANES.
- Exposure to Brominated Flame Retardants (BFRs)
- Exposure to Environmental Phenols
- Exposure to Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances
- Exposure to Pesticides
- Exposure to Phthalates
- Exposure to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- Exposure to Tobacco Products
- Exposure to Trace Elements
- Exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
